Healthcare Program

VISTING THE SICK

Catholic Charities Organizations (LCCOs) provide Medi-Cal outreach, enrollment assistance, and education related to health coverage in California. It can be particularly challenging for low-income families and individuals to enroll in, and use, health insurance.  The Catholic Charities’ Medi-Cal Health Navigators program effectively reaches underserved and vulnerable populations, who often face significant health disparities.

Each year, Catholic Charities assists tens of thousands of individuals and families, particularly those with low-incomes, receive invaluable support including enrolling in health coverage, retaining their health coverage, accessing and utilizing their Medi-Cal benefits, and troubleshooting. Timely enrollment into Medi-Cal or Covered California helps low-income Californians access care and avoid costly and traumatic health crises.

In 2023, this program served over 89,000 people. LCCO services are currently available in 12 counties: Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, Imperial, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, and Del Norte.
