“A mother of three sought assistance with applying for CalFresh Food Benefits from St. Louise Resource Services after experiencing significant life-altering events, including the loss of employment and adapting to the role as a newly, single mother. She had been reluctant to apply for CalFresh Food Benefits due to a number of challenges including stigma, immigration fears, and language barriers. However, she was met by the team at St. Louise Resource Center with compassion, empathy, and exceptional service. They effectively supported her every step of the way from determining eligibility, to completing the complicated application process on her behalf, to advocating for her in order to ensure she secured CalFresh Food Benefits. In doing so, the CalFresh Outreach team was able to ensure that this newly single mother was able to meet her family’s basic nutrition needs, which put her mind at ease.”
